November temperatures are in the high 70’s during the days and the 50’s at night There is no humidity and little rain fall. It’s sunny and warm every day. A great time of year !

Ocala Florida weather report for October 2013

It’s October and there still has not been an Atlantic hurricane despite all of the usual predictions. No one gets paid so much to be wrong so often as a weatherman. That’s something I’ve been saying for years BTW.

Temperatures dipped below 90 the last week of September and the nights have been in the 60’s. October highs will be in the mid 80’s. It is now the dry season. The humidity is almost gone. We only expect about 2 inches of rain in October. It is a great time of year here in Ocala.

Ocala Florida weather report for September 2013

September in Ocala is a summer month. It may be fall in other parts of the country but here in Ocala it’s still summer. Every day is still in the 90’s and it is still plenty humid. It is not until October that the temperatures and humidity ease up. September is still part of our wet season with afternoon thunderstorms several times per week. It never rains all day here but the thunderstorms can be severe.

September is also the height of hurricane season. So far 2013 has been a remarkable calm hurricane season with no hurricanes or even tropical storms any where near Florida. Let’s hope this continues to the end of the season in November.

Ocala Florida Weather Report for August 2013

So far this has been the wettest summer since I moved to Ocala in 2004. It seems to rain almost every day. Talking to people who grew up here I’m told that this is more a return to normal and the past several years have been a drought.

August is the first serious month of hurricane season. The season actually begins in June but it isn’t really until August that the ocean temperatures get high enough to provide fuel for a serious hurricane.

Long term forecast. High in the 90’s  with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms every day until the end of October.

Ocala Florida weather report for July 2013

Summer is the wet season in Ocala but this year has been even wetter than usual so far. This year has been odd because of all the cloudy days with extended periods of rain. Afternoon thunderstorms are the norm but the mornings and early afternoons are usually sunny. The end of June and the beginning of July has been down right gloomy. Of course as I love to say it is a small price to pay for no winter. The winters are actually great.

July should be hot and humid. Every day will be over 90 with the nights in the mid 70’s. It will be very humid but not much more humid than you find in some other states. The humidity just lasts longer here, from June to October.

If you’re thinking of moving you should visit Florida in the summer.

Ocala Florida weather report for June 2013

June is a big month weather wise here in Ocala. It is the beginning of the wet season. The heat and humidity returns and lasts until October. Afternoon thunderstorms are common. Although they only last a short time they can dump a lot of rain very quickly. Wind off the Atlantic collides with winds from the Gulf of Mexico and makes the afternoon atmosphere unstable causing thunderstorms. June is also the beginning of hurricane season although the season doesn’t really get going until late August. The ocean temperatures that feed hurricanes need that time to heat up.

Come to Ocala. The hot humid summers are a small price to pay for no winters

So far 2013 has been an odd year weather wise here in Ocala. January was some how warmer than March or so it seemed. April had some really warm days and some unusually cool ones too. We got an unusual amount of rain in April considering this is the dry season.

May is the last month of our dry season. The humidity will return late in the month. Temperatures in May should be in the high 80’s during the day and the high 60’s at night. It should stay dry until the last week of the month.

As I like to say “the hot Florida summers are a small price to pay for no winters”

Ocala Florida weather report for April 2013

Looking back to last month March was unusually cold. It was so cold in fact that according to the TV weatherman March was colder than January. We had a couple of frosts in March when the last frost date is supposed to be the 15th of the month.

April is a great month in Ocala. It is dry with little rain and no humidity. Temperatures should be in the 80’s during the day and the 60’s at night. No need for heat or AC so I can save on the electric bill.

If it’s cold and rainy where you live then sell your house this spring and move to Ocala. The hot humid summers are a small price to pay for no winters.

Ocala Florida weather report for March 2013

Just when I thought that we were going to make it through the winter without a hard frost we finally got one the end of February and another the first week of March. It was so warm in January and early February my lawn stayed green instead to going dormant and turning brown. Even the azaleas were tricked into blooming by the warm weather.

March is the beginning of spring in Ocala. If you are a vegetable gardener the last frost date is considered to be March 15. The grass will be turning green again, new leaves will come out on the trees and flowers will start to bloom. Highs for March are in the high 70’s and lows at night in the 50’s. There is no humidity an very little rain this time of year. March is a great time of year.

Ocala Florida weather report February 2013

So far the winter of 2012-13 is the winter that wasn’t. January was bizarrely warm with some days approaching 80. That’s not normal. Even the plants were confused, the azaleas are blooming. Many days were over 10 degrees above normal. We also get several frosts and this year at my house in the SW area we have only had 2 very mild frosts. We need a hard freeze or two to kill off nasty insects like fleas and ticks. The last week of January returned to more normal temperatures but later this week, the first week of February, it is expected to warm up  again.

February is the last month of winter. It begins to warm up the last week or so of the month. The last frost date is thought to be March 15 if you are a gardener. You can plant tender plants then and expect them to last into June when it gets too hot. You can get another planting in for the fall in late September.

If you’re sick of the winter where ever you are then come to Ocala. The housing market is beginning to recover here and prices will never be lower. Call me, email me or use my Ocala Dream Home Finder.
